Some weeks ago I wacht in cinema The Ryan's Daugther in a new cinema copy, with intermission music.
When I see the Theme Day idea, I remenber the music I eared usually few times is eared.
Intermission music was made for do a break in long films. Films was made thinking in usually two act, and Intermission was in the middle. The story is made for do the break, is not like tv spot break. The story finish somes ideas and intermission letters show. Music is not cut, and light are put on with the image of.
You can go to boy drink, or simply, rest a few listening music and variations of music. The music is not in cd, is in the 35mm copy, with black photogram. Depends the cinema, they change in the machine the film part. The music stars again during some minutes. With no cuts in the music, light are put off and image is put on for continues the film.
Only, long films has, logycally, intermission specific music. During years of tv and VHS, the intermission was out, now, many dvd edition recupered intermission that aren't see in many years. Luckyly, many cd editions has the intermision music track: Cleopatra, Paint Your Wagon, Patton, Ryan's Daughter...
We have opening music for the firts day of the year, and endind music for the last day of the year, I think in the middle year we must have intermission music day. |

Yes.
I am not sure if allwais the title of the tracks must call intermision, but many times yes. See in: http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/search.php?searchon=track&searchtext=intermission

Obviusly, they are long films of golden age. Now intermission is not made, intermission suposse many money to the productor, long metres of black film, and film metre is not cheap, and it must be multiplicated for the munbers os copys are made. Cinemas don't like, intermission do film more long, and they like do the most proyection per day. |
