Alexander Courage, who wrote the original Star Trek title theme as well as the scores for numerous television shows and movies, died May 15 in Pacific Palisades, California at the age of 88. The Emmy winning and Oscar-nominated composer had over 90 film and television credits and at least one other TV theme (Judd for the Defense), but he was best known for the exotic, bongo-driven siren song he wrote for the original Star Trek TV series.

As I've already posted in the Earle Hagen-thread, I feel very sad about this message.
Courage was one of the greatest arrangers in filmmusic history.
His very relationship to Jerry Goldsmith & John Williams was more than just doing work for them.

May he rest in peace and have fun with Jerry on the other side.

Shame to lose such a talented artist. His music will live on forever.

What a great event! If only things like this reached UK shores. It makes me reiterate something that I said elsewhere - can't wait to hear the music from the next Star Trek movie.
