I noticed today (July 27) that the rating stars for many STs seem to have changed. It lookes like the way how the stars are calculated was changed. Stars do not directly reflect the average score of the album but appear to be based on the calculated percent (and I don't know how this percent is calculated). E.g. "My Neighbor Totoro" has 52 votes, the score of 3.9, percent of 33.53 % and (only) 2 stars.

I think that this may be confusing, because at least I think that when I rate a score I give it "stars". For example, if I rate a score as 4, I give it 4 stars, and if the average score is around 4, I'd expect to see 4 stars...

I'd like to know how the stars are now calculated and why the system was changed.

(I'm sorry if this topic is already covered somewhere else. I looked for it but I did not find it in the forums.)

The Album Rating System was explained by JERIC & Sensei back in 2004 here in the General Forums.
Hope this helps.
