I'm just a long time listener who never posts in the forums, but I have to speak up about the playlist entry for "Opera Sauvage" by Vangelis.
I could be wrong, by what is currently in SST does not sound like the original score.
Here's the Amazon link with track samples.

Just heard L'enfant here and it does not sound like the version I have on the Themes album.
I think JERIC must look into it. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Hmm, I listened to it and to the version on Themes album as well. I must say that they sound like the same track to me. I don't have the original Opera Sauvage album (on LP or CD) so I can't make that comparison.
The sample on Amazon.com doesn't start from the very beginning of the track so that makes it sound different at first.
But, the track should be checked of course. |

I've been a Vangelis fan since 1978, and bought the Opera Sauvage album in 1980 (a year after it's release).

What's in the SST playlist sounds more like someone's attempt to reproduce it with a midi player. Not a bad likeness, but it doesn't sound like Vangelis. |

I knew I had this album somewhere. but i thought I lost it, But I have found it again. So I can really compare it with the next track that is coming... _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Welp. It sounds fine now. I'm positive the music was different a few months ago when I requested a track from it.
I had made a comment in the chat a couple of times since then, after listening to a selected track, that it sounded off. Anyone know if someone re-entered it in the playlist?
Either that or I'm going senile in my old age... |

A bit confused now, because Chromatique sounded the same on my album and the one here on SST, while I still think L'Enfant is different. Requested another one with the harp of Jon Andreson... _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

It was L'Enfant that I had requested a few months ago that didn't sound right. Plus someone just recently requested Hymne, and that didn't sound right either.
But I agree, Chromatique sounded fine. |

Also Flamants Roses sounds good to me.
I will listen to Hymne and L'Enfant again when they are available. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Ok, I'm not go to miss it this time ... couple minutes away from playing ...
... and the L'Enfant entry in SST is definitely not from the Opera Sauvage CD. I'm listening to them side by side ... very different from each other.
The one currently in the playlist does not have that signature Vangelis sound from his heavy use of the Yamaha CS-80 during the period when he recorded Opera Sauvage. |

Too bad I missed it, but what I have heard before of this L'Enfant track I d that idea as well. I also see the cover album (colors of text and other things) is slightly different as the Dutch/Europe version I have. Maybe there is a difference in release. When I am able I will also listen to the other tracks. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Good ears, Gary. Thx, too, Siri & Galfin.
All fixed now - the glorious "kettle drums" in Hymne are back. Enjoy! |
