Oh just realized now that you are on Internet Explorer. If you have Firefox then you can install the extension (like a plugin) and then selectively block whatever you want.

Using an ad block program seems like a good idea but it also blocks website revenue.

I just have the same problem with a french ad : "Fais le test de la mort".
Each time the mouse pointer goes on it, there is an evil laughter very loud.
1) It gets on my nerves
2) My colleagues look at me in odd ways
