|
I'm wondering if anyone could help on this. About a month and a half ago I noticed that when I click on the Listeners link (on the upper part of the page) my browser freezes completely and I have to close it. I forgot about this problem for a while and that's why I write about it only now.
I'm using Firefox 3.0.11 and the system is Windows Vista Home Premium (Service Pack 1).
The same thing happens also with IE 8 (version 8.0.6001.18783).
I wonder if this might have some to do with scripts the Listeners page is running? A java issue?
(This computer has Java 6 Standard Edition, version 6, update 13, build 1.6.0_13-b03.)
Any help would be appreciated although this isn't really a critical issue, fortunately. |

All I can say is I have FF 3.0.10 with Windows XP Home Edition (Service Pack 3) and the page works fine (I don't think I have Java software installed).
Edit: Just upgraded to FF 3.0.11 and still the listen page is OK. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

The Stats page where the link of the Listeners goes to, uses Java to show a graph under the top 10 list.
When I open that page the first time and Java is not started yet it freezes the page for about 10 seconds, but after that it works fine
Maybe a Java update will fix the problem. _________________ That's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne)

Hi GalFin,
I'd suspect a plug-in problem, probably the windows media player one.
In Firefox, please go to the Tools menu -> Add-ons -> Plugins. You should see a list of installed plugins including Shockwave Flash, Java Platform and Windows Media Player Plug-in Dynamic Library. I have a few more, like VLC Multimedia Plug-in.
I'd try to disable the Windows Media Player plugin, restart Firefox, and go to the listen page. If it still crashes, it might be another multimedia plugin... You have to try out different combinations.
Could you please post here the results of your experiments? |

You must be right, Sirius! I didn't see your post while posting... This is an issue that was already discussed recently.
GalFin, my method remains valid, but you should just disable the Java Platform plugin and check that the page loads properly. If it's the case, please try to update Java like Sirius said |

Thank you for your advice Sirius and Alchemist.
I updated Java but that didn't help.
I disabled the Java plug-in (Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U14) and now the page loads except for the Listener Count Graph.
I played with disabling several other plug-ins and add-ons but that didn't help.
So the issue here (at least in my computer) is the Java plug-in.
Thanks again! |

Now I see I misread GalFin's post.
Looks like it's not good for me reading forums early in the morning _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Molossus, don't worry! I think I wasn't quite awake either because when I read your first post I didn't find anything strange in it. |
