Just wish that Amazon wasn't so paranoid and open the MP3 store to users outside the US..

You don't know that it's Amazon that's paranoid. It may have more to do with the record labels.

Most likely is the labels. But then how does iTunes get around this and Amazon can't?? Sounds like the good old US corporate mentality of " If you live outside the US you don't count"..

With respect, paulw, that's not fair. Corporations aren't under any obligation to sell this stuff outside the US. Amazon is still new at this. I don't think iTunes was selling outside the US at first.

Whatever. I'm not here to bandy this. I'm here to tell you that the Twilight Score is on sale this weekend at Amazon for $5. The lovers have already purchased it, no doubt, but here's the link anyway:

Wow, it's been a while since Amazon had a soundtrack deal. Today, 8/19, the score from Tron is on sale for 1.99.

They also have, for the rest of the month, a soundtrack for Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet for $5.

Thanks Amazon, I wish I could buy it, but Amazon downloads are only available in the USA.

Thank you LadyInque to post it here.

Thx LadyI - I was wondering what I was going to spend a $1 credit on - but I think I can stretch to an extra $0.99 for TRON Smile

Amazon's giving away a sampler of Philip Glass music, if that kind of thing appeals to you. I'm not a Glass fan, so I have no idea if this is representative or good.

Many FREE MP3s available from Amazon:

Subset for "Soundtracks":

Sorry that the above doesn't seem to work as a direct URL. You'll have to cut/paste, or follow the short link above and narrow it down yourself.

Enjoy!

All iTunes Plus tracks feature DRM-free music with high quality 256 kbps AAC encoding for audio quality which the company claims is "virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings."

i've read from an audiophile on another forum that the codec itunes is using has the frequency range of lossless file [significantly past the cut off point of what mp3 is capable off retaining] but is compressed with a bit rate of 256. this isn't cd quality but i've been told its better than mp3. i've not bought from there before so i couldn't say cause of course ive not benchmarked it on my speakers.

I'm not quite joined at the hip to amazon's mp3 store but its pretty close! :p I usually will browse the free stuff and I've found some decent classical stuff there. Nothing really soundtrack related, but its good if you only like a song or two out of an album. Sound quality is crisp and the bitrate in the low 200s is far beyond perceptual transparency for me (meaning it sounds like the cd it came from :p ). Its certainly worth using if you can't find an album or only like a track or two from it.

Well, been a while. Amazon is selling 1000 albums in mp3 format for $5 each for the month of August. Here's the link for soundtracks, which I don't know how to make so it gives credit to SST.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_353611882_23?ie=UTF8&docId=1000530741&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=left-1&pf_rd_r=1K60Q4AT8P6AG84E4Z58&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1270981062&pf_rd_i=2384464011

I suggest just clicking one of the links on this site and navigating there yourself. Anyway. They say 50, I count 49, but there are some good scores represented. And the Phineas and Ferb soundtrack is included, which I think is gold, but probably makes no nevermind to you if you've never watched the show.

Cheers!
