What! No one has nominated Mao's Last Dancer? Then I shall do it.
This is one of the year's best and I hope enough people give it a listen to see why it's rated highly. |
I'm with BP on this one. One of the few I purchased last year. Of course, I am a big Christopher Gordon fan |

As I strongly back the nominations of:
*Avatar - James Horner*
*The soloïst - Dario Marianelli*
I still would like to nominate the score for:
MONSTERS VS. ALIENS by Henry Jackman
An upcoming composer who blossomed under the wings of Hans Zimmer and came up with a beautiful first score for this movie. (and more to come)

I nominate Ennio Morricone's Baaria. It's a really fine score and shows that the old master is still strong.
And I second the nomination for Marco Frisina's Puccini. |

Ok, I have 4 in mind :
So in order of preference:
1) Avatar (Horner), incredible movie, wonderful music and the main theme is beautifully interpreted. Every track inspires me a deep liberty, as if I could succeed in anything
2) Angels & Demons (Zimmer), really fits to the movie, strong feeling of faith.
3) Sherlock Holmes (Zimmer), also a great and funny movie, and the music is really a part of it. Moreover, my girlfriend told me the main theme is a replay of an old traditional Romanian theme, which makes me like the score even more
4) Coraline (Coulais). Although I still haven't seen the movie, Coulais is my favorite French composer and I really like the score (I'm still trying to understand the End Credits track)
Ok, that's it for me, hope you agree with my pick

OOPS! My bad! I really thought it was a 2009 album. So The Wolfman is withdrawn, of course. I'll nominate it next year. (Silly me... ) |
