The 1933 soundtrack for King Kong is one of my favorites. Problem is that it was recorded in 1933 with old technology. Does anyone know if there is a version that was recorded recently. If there was, it should definitely be added to the list. |

Judging from the quality of the real player audio samples, it sounds like the original recording, not a recent rerecording.
But I could be wrong, in fact I made two mistakes this year already...not in music of course. |

That is because the samples are from low quality :-)
Got nothing to do with the quality of the album |

Fact of the matter is... There may not be a newer recording of the ST. but that does not mean that it was not "cleaned up" when it was cut to CD. I have a live recording of Benny Goodman at the Hollywood Bowl that although it does not have that clean digital sound it does have an excellent sound. Old does not equal poor sound. The only way you are going to know the quality of this CD unfortunately is to buy it.
Enough pontificating for me. _________________ A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day. - Calvin and Hobbes - |

I'm not condoning P2P file sharing but this would be a good example of its usefulness. Your intentions are in the right place so this may be a way to sample the quality before you make a purchase. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Now go wash your mouth out with soap Jeric for even suggesting such a thing.

Actually, I am not equating recording technology with aesthetic quality, I have some old stuff whose sound could never be duplicated with digital recording techniques. I'm just saying that the King Kong ST deserves to be recorded with modern equipment to get a fuller sound. In fact a lot of old soundtracks fall into that category.
So no one knows for sure if it was rerecorded? |
