Ok, I stumbled accross this article when I was checking which of the two composers in fact did Promontory, which is undoubtfully the strongest track on the OST.

The conclusion to that article :

Overall, this new recording is a smashing success. The excess of Edelman's lackluster music is now missing, and what is left for the most part is the true spirit of the score: the majestic main theme, and the score as Trevor Jones must have intended it to sound. Those who own the original soundtrack may be hesitant to pick this album up - but consider the admirable effort McNeely and the RSNO have turned in plus the new material and expanded "Promontory", which makes this new recording well worth adding as a compliment to the original soundtrack. |
