|
For those who still don't know it, I manage the technical staff in a 10,000 inhabitants city near Chartres, France. Amonst them are the gardeners.
To stimulate their imagination when it comes to flower the city, a theme is chosen each year. This year, it is the cinema.
And to valorise their work and educate the citizen to respect the plantations, we organize each year a feast in the city.
As I don't expect all of you to come see the clumps (there are more SSTers than inhabitants ), I put in this post some (and only some ) of what we produce.
First of all, two hommages at two cities of Cinema:
Spoiler: Which obviously is Hollywwod |
Spoiler: The rising of the Cannes' stairs |
Then, a clumb I designed and planted myself. First time I tried this kind of work, so the final isn't totally what I expected
Spoiler: The draughtman's contract, which french title means Murder in an english garden. There is a red figure at the end, but it isn't totally flourished yet |
Then, some others more or less easily to find
Spoiler: The bridge upon the river Kwai |
Spoiler: Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis |
This one is in the entrance of the town hall and was totally built by the staff.
Spoiler: Gorillas in the mist. Note the simulation of a roll of film |
We got also some specialists of the mosaiculture, which bring simply amazing results:
Spoiler: Charlot. It should be easier to find |
Spoiler: E.T. Don't tell me you didn't guess |
Spoiler: James Bond. My office is just behind this one |
Spoiler: Titanic. It was pretty easy to find |
Spoiler: Behind this star wars scene, you can see some of the clumps planted for the fifth element (fifth of them) |
And, last but not least, one that I've been heard that I may have a slighlty influence on the choice of the subject, but that's only rumors
And there are many more _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

The gardens are amazing, especially given the fact that you are in a relatively small town. They are so creative and beautiful. Congratulations on organizing it to be so successful, Platy!
Thank you so much for taking the time to post all the photos for us to see. |

Yes!! That is so awesome that you have this neat event each year, amazing what 'art' can be done with simple plants! Do you have signs near the plants to let people know what film they represent? Because i certainly would not know half of them! Very neat, thanks for posting the photos! _________________ The right song can turn an emperor into a laughing stock, can bring down dynasties. Yes, we have. We put on it infos on the film (year, director, actor, composer ), on the plants used, and we put also the name of the gardeners who designed it. _________________ There is no problem that can't be solve without any solution |

Thanks for posting the flower pics! I was impressed by the dedication to pull off these themed flower beds. It was rather fun to try to guess the films that went with each pic. |

Still I have the weird feeling that "Dune" was just a spot they forgot to cultivate and then later called it "dune" _________________

I just noticed that the title says "Flower Feast" ... does that mean the flowers are safe to eat? |
