Have you ever finished a movie and wondered what all the hoopla was about? Did a movie's message ever get lost on you? Have you ever failed to see why a movie gained such a large fan following?
This is another chance to be courageous and list some movies that you feel is not as good as its reputation.
My List: (to be revised as I think of more)
- Animal House
- The Blair Witch Project
- Citizen Kane
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off
- The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
- Inception
- Inglorious Basterds
- Juno
- Kill Bill: Vol. 1
- Napoleon Dynamite
- Pan's Labyrinth
- Paranormal Activity
- Super Size Me
- There Will be Blood
- Tropic Thunder _________________ "You have been chosen to represent Earth in Mortal Kombat. Be warned. Although your souls are protected from Shao Kahn's evil: your lives are not. I cannot interfere any longer as your Earth is now ruled by the Outworld gods."

Threads like this are prone to derailing to long and dreadful fights on why a movie is good or not, so let's keep discussing the movies to a minimum.
I haven't seen many movies that I didn't like, but there are still some that I can't really enjoy:
- All of the Monty Python movies (some of the series are quite good).
- The Godfather I
- Memento
- Bridget Jones' Diary
- Dances With Wolves
- Alexander
That's all I can think of on the spot, but there were definately more.
On a related note, the Twilight Saga is not on that list. _________________ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. |

I never tried to list it but if I ever did Inglorious Basterds and Kill Bill would probably be included. _________________ "The piano keys

So far all I can think of is Star Wars original trilogy (Episode 4,5,6 - whatever you want to call them)
Oh and Indiana Jones...
Maybe it's because I wasn't alive when they came out but I just don't enjoy them. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow. - James Dean |

I haven't heard too many people be that thrilled by the HHGG movie - the original radio series was cult and the UK TV series was much-lauded, and the books of course are considered classic by many, but the movie was pretty much a let-down for all those groups, so not surprised you don't think much of that one.
As for my list, start with just about any Oscar-winning movie out there .... -yawn-. But then again, I know my tastes do not generally match the ones that are apparently so popular - I say generally because sometimes it's hard to tell amongst the hype. In fact, most of the ones everyone has mentioned are so far down on my radar I haven't bothered to watch them - the exceptions being Bridget Jones (another yawn), HHGG (disappointing as I said) and Star Wars/Indy ..... which I did adore when they came out, and still like episode 4 & the Indy's ....
The one that springs to mind recently is Avatar - a solid 'B' in my book but not worth the hype/popularity it got. |
