Go to www.google.com
Type one of the lines below in the search box.
Click the "I'm Feeling Lucky" button or just do a normal search and pick the first result.

Just to show my geeky side, Google bombing was actually coined on the webmasterworld forum site, as were the terms google-dance and naming of the google update (Florida last november, Austin this January, kind of like the naming of hurricanes)
For anyone who is still niave enough to believe that most of what you read on the web isn't the product of some webmaster keyword rich marketing speak designed to garner him traffic, PR (page rank) or some other purpose consider the following.
Any SEO (search engine optimizer) worth his salt uses google bombing to reverse engineer serp (search engine reporting page) algo's. It goes something like this: You pick a series of three disconnected words (like cocles caltrop stegosaur), check them in google if you can get 0 results great but anyting up to 25 is good. You then set up a series of pages and vary the keyword density (# of times words are repeated) and keyword prominance (how close keywords are to begining of text) to determine the the optimal mix for that search engine. With this knowledge you set up pages as close to that criteria as possible. Yes this is the cliff notes verzion and there are things you can do that will get you caught and blocked or banned if you're not careful.
So next time you go to your local search engine and look something up, realize the top results are much more likely to be there as a result of the effort of some techno-geek-marketing-weasel who is more interested in extracting a few dracmas from your wallet, than the lofty goal that Al Gore had in mind when he invented the internet.

This is old stuff. I have been "google fishing" for years now. The true test is to put in 2 unrelated words and find only 1 result.

go to google and search for 'expectorate stegosaur'
Expectorate - In addition to being something Gaston from Beauty and the Beast is really good at, it is to eject from the throat or lungs by coughing or hawking and spitting.
Stegosaur - any of a suborder (Stegosauria) of quadrupedal ornithischian dinosaurs with strongly developed dorsal plates and spikes. Current speculation is they used thier large dorsal plates as a heat regulating device much like modern day crocodiles use the scutes on thier backs.
Not sure if should be proud or embarrased that i was able to due that with very little effort. |
