The Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) ended its fifth edition on Saturday, July 2, with an ovation of more than 4,000 people who attended the great week of parallel activities and concerts that took place at the main venues in Santa Cruz and La Laguna. The Closing Gala Concert, staged at the Auditorio de Tenerife "Adán Martín", and focused on Bernard Herrmann and John Barry, achieved one of the greatest successes of this film music event, which was completely sold out. The audience could enjoy the best scores by both geniuses performed by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, conducted by the composer and director of FIMUCITÉ, Diego Navarro.

This Gala became unforgettable thanks to the participation, for the first time, of soloist voices accompanied by the orchestra. The soprano Carmen Acosta, with an extraordinary performance of the Salaambo’s Aria, from Citizen Kane, and Esther Ovejero, whose charismatic voice revived immortal themes from the Bond saga as "Goldfinger" or “Diamonds Are Forever”, amazed the audience. The comedy group El Supositorio also joined the event with a new and brilliant short film parodying the adventures of James Bond 007.

For the first time in FIMUCITÉ’s history, Diego Navarro completely conducted both great symphonic concerts staged at the Auditorio. The July 1 one, focused on the Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi (regular composer for Wong Kar Wai’s films), and on Patrick Doyle (whose suite for “Thor”, the latest Marvel adaptation, was Worldwide premiered at this concert) got an identical success.

The Festival staunch admirers could also enjoy this year’s guest composers, face to face, at the different panels that took place at Espacio Cultural de Cajacanarias: Stephen Warbeck, Oscar Academy Award winner for "Shakespeare in Love"; Doyle and Umebayashi, as well as the Spanish composers Roque Baños, Arnau Bataller and the French Basque, Pascal Gaigne.

At the end of the Closing Gala, the Festival also told the audience the dates of the next edition: FIMUCITÉ VI will be from July 9 to 14, 2012.
