I saw M&C twice, and came away with different impressions each time.

The first time, I went in with a pre-expectation of a "Gladiator on the High Seas", which admittedly was kind of what was at least touted in the media. I absolutely thought Gladiator was maybe the finest film made in the last 5-10 years, so I didnt expect M&C to live up to that, but because my expectations were that high, I was disappointed this first time.

The second time I went with some friends, and decided to go in with a different attitude..to watch and enjoy the story and the performances. I came away much more satisfied the second time. I ended up liking the movie better than the soundtrack, actually.

Thanks Korkster!

I'll think I'll watch the movie when it's out on DVD.

I just saw it yesterday at the only theater in Manhattan that's still playing it (Loews State Theater inside Virgin Megastore at Times Square). If Peter Jackson had not made The Lord of the Rings, Master and Commander would have been the big Oscar winner this year, bringing director Peter Weir his long overdue Oscar. It is simply magnificent.

No, it doesn't make you seasick. How this extraordinary film can make anyone throw up is beyond me. If someone did throw up, they were probably sick before seeing the movie. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who has not yet seen it.

I think the only way you can throw up is at one of those 3-D IMAX films. I've heard so many different things about M&C - onto my list of must-see films!
