Have you ever felt that a movie didn't receive enough appreciation from the general public? Have you ever wondered if you were the only member of a movie's fan club?

I answer "yes" to both questions and I'm curious to know who else has shared the frustration. It's not always easy to be in the minority, but it can help to know that you're not alone.

This thread offers the chance to be courageous and list some movies that appear to be generally disliked by most of the public but liked by you.

My list: (to be revised as I think of more.)

- Airplane 2: The Sequel
- Batman and Robin
- Batman Forever
- Casper
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- The Happening
- Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
- Jumper
- Lady in the Water
- Man of the Year
- The NeverEnding Story 2: The Next Chapter
- Psycho (1998)
- Scary Movie 4
- Spider-Man 3
- Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace
- Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
- Superman Returns
- The Village
- Weekend at Bernie's 2
- The Wicker Man (2006)

It'll be a smaller list for me, since I generally pick titles from the Free Record Shop that sound familiar to me through trailers or mouth-to-mouth advertising.
- Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace
- Jumper
- Stardust
- Hero
- Next

I'll definately try out some of the movies you listed there.

-Star Wars Episode 1,2 & 3
-Life As A House
-Twilight (I know its "popular" but most on here don't like it)

So far that's it..

Just seen one: Rhapsody in August (1991) by Akira Kurosawa. It was his second last film and was harshly criticized because it didn't mention why the atomic bomb was launched on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After 20 years, I can't understand these critics, as the film is about normal people, not politics. It's wonderful in my opinion.

The Phantom (1996) - Billy Zane, Kristy Swanson, Treat Williams, Catherine Zeta-Jones

I always find myself defending and promoting this movie. It's got a great soundtrack score, fun characters, beautiful sets from the pulp story days, nice action film for the whole family!

The 1990s Captain America. Enjoyed the man out of time plot that it had.

THAT was a good film, i don't remember it getting a theatrical release even. It was an interesting approach to the origin, very story driven, and the costumes and make-up were awesome for it's time. I hope you've seen the new one, it's very good!

King Arthur (2004)
- Clive Owen, Keira Knightly

I bought the dvd for cheap the other day, and most my friends didn't have much good to say about the film. The north american box office was weak, but internatinally it made big money! I LOVED this movie, it had a refreshing look at King Arthur and his Knights. No hocus pocus Merlin magic, shiny polished armor, and slaying dragons. Yes the film's historical facts might be way off, but it made for a very realistic, gritty film with incredible battle scenes. Easily my favourite role for Clive.

Saw King Arthur. Did like the retelling of the Story to put it as the Roman Empire is collapsing. It gave a sort of darkness from the change from Roman civilisation.

Also seen Centurion (2010), not a Hollywood blockbuster but it is a dark story of the remainder of a Legion (9th) trying to get home.

I'd hardly call those movies unpopular, cpmonster.

I liked The Village, but I also know better than to watch it again.

I really enjoyed a directorial debut of George Clooney, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) and especially his dark comedy Suburbicon (2017) written together with the Coen brothers. It's hard to understand why these movies didn't get more credit. They stand out with incredible stories and superb acting.
