In the credits for Pirates of the Caribbean (TERRIFIC movie btw), Hans Zimmer is credited as the movie score composer. The style of music does resemble his. Certain portions remind me of the Gladiator score.

But on Amazon.com, Klaus Badelt is credited as the composer for the album.

What's going on here? Who composed the Pirates score!?? Was it a joint effort, perhaps?

I'm so confused! Crying or Very sad

Badelt appears to be the composer according to IMdb. He collaborated with Zimmer a couple of times. One of them was The Gladiator.

He probably learned a lot from the master :-) Maybe Zimmer was given thanks in the credit, instead of composing the score?

PS. IMdb is your friend :-)

Strange, very strange.

IMDB does not credit Hans Zimmer at all, anywhere, for Pirates of the Caribbean. Klaus Badelt is credited for the original music...

But Hans Zimmer is credited for that in the actual film's credits! I didn't notice Klaus Badelt's name anywhere. I may have missed it, but even if I did, it'd be nowhere near Zimmer's name. Maybe they did collaborate...but nobody wants to admit it. Strange.

Very strange.

That is odd, but in the end credits they list Badelt.

You can really tell his a Zimmer protege, but I have to admit, It seemed rather empty. Probably my least favorite part of the movie.

Ah well...

P. S. You all did stay through the credits to see the surprise right?

I remember reading that it was originally a joint effort with Zimmer and Badelt, but Zimmer pulled out and only Badelt was left to do the score. Badelt, obviously, utilizes the traditional Media Ventures composition and sound style

Alright, I finally saw the film myself. Klaus Badelt was the composer. Zimmer was the score's producer, which means he took care of the business side of things.

LOL sorry Van!

I've always loved those kind of things. Will never forget the one at the end of Young Sherlock Holmes.

Plus I'm one of those people that likes watching credits, and with this I can finally get my friends to stop bitching about me sitting there!

The DVD for Pirates has some discussion of the music. It mentions both Zimmer and Badelt working on the music, as well as about 30 other composers. Supports what Juan says about the team working on it.
