|
I wanted to buy the Forrest Gump score for Christmas, but I was having trouble finding it. There are some second-hand cds available, but they are quite expensive.
I noticed on Discogs that Forrest Gump was last released on cd in 2008. I'm not well-acquainted with soundtrack collecting, but this surprises me, as I reckoned Forrest Gump to be a classic that would get a new pressing if it was out.
I think I'll skip on it for now; do you think I can expect it to be released again later? I noticed that it has been released on vinyl recently, but I'm not into that. |

Do you mean this album, 607? https://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/27690/FORREST-GUMP/ _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Yes! I see that they have only one available, so it still doesn't seem too easy to get. I also won't go for this one, because sending fees from the USA are (too) high. But thanks! |

I found later CD reissues at Amazon Poland (2018) and Amazon Germany (2020). Both pretty expensive, though: 20€ more or less + delivery |

I discovered at the beginning of the pandemic that the very site you used to look up the information about this CD, Discogs, has a huge market place with second [and first hand!] music. You need an account to use it but I've bought quite a few soundtrack CDs there over the last year or two, including Forrest Gump for about € 5, and my experience with this place has been quite good.
I just checked and the album you are looking for is for sale for as low a price as € 3, excluding shipping: https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?sort=price%2Casc&limit=25&master_id=179115&ev=mb
Hope you can still get it before Christmas |

Thanks Albi, that's a great tip! I see there are a lot of European sellers here too (and as such acceptable sending fees).
I am still wondering if anyone has an idea why it wouldn't be re-released on cd? Maybe the cd market is just not active enough currently? |

I’m not sure about market activity (other albums seem to be showing up on the market pretty normally). Maybe. To speculate a bit more I can add that my experience tells me a lot of problems with score releasing have something to do with intelectual property rights.
Sometimes your rights have expired, sometimes you don’t know who holds them (the latter one is not this case probably, but the reason we don’t have more music from „Czas Honoru” TV Series is it’s unclear who holds the rights for example). _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

My first experience with discogs wasn't good. I paid for 3 albums and got 2 of them. |
