anyone familiar with any medieval-sounding scores?

What about the score to Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves? Or, for that matter, the older Robin Hood and King Arthur movies? Also, there's Excalibur and Dragonheart (if you want to include it). Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head, but I'll make sure to post any more if I can think of them. |

I 'm not sure how Medieval this score is, but David Herschfelder's score from "Elizabeth" is top notch period stuff. 5 stars all the way. Also, John Barry's score for "Robin And Marian" is one of the great scores in this genre.
Then, if you like a Spanish theme to your Medieval era, Miklos Rozsa'a "El Cid" may be his greatest work. And , lest i forget, even though it's more fantasy, Goldsmith's rejected (for the American release) score from "Legend" is available and stunning.
Finally, even though I would hesitate to call it medieval, Basil Poledouris's "Conan The Barbarian" is about as close to the feel as it gets.
Hope those help you |
