I'm thinking something along the lines of the love tracks from Pearl Harbor and Braveheart, and even similar to the entire Black Beauty score. |

The score part of Legend always strikes me this way.
hmmm, and not going to the obvious ones, like Moulin Rouge that deliberately go for that...
I'd have to say Chocolat and Dangerous Beauty as well. Course these are romantic movies too...
hmm have to add some of the sections of Shakespeare in Love then too.

I'm putting in my two cents of the most romantic soundtracks I've heard. Can't tell the exact section of the score but I'll tell the movie.
1. Joe Versus The Volcano - Love Theme/Marooned/End Theme - Georges Delerue
2. A Room With A View - Richard Robbins
3. Somewhere in Time - John Barry
4. When A Man Loves A Woman - Zbigniew Preisner
I'll add more when I listen to more. I don't own Joe Versus The Volcano...but I'm looking out for a cheap copy if I ever find one. Varese Sarabande Soundtrack Club doesn't have any. |

For pure, unabashed romantic music, I'd say that a lot of Georges Delarue's music does it for me. John Barry's Somewhere in Time, as noted above by Shinnen, is great as well (as is a LOT of his stuff, even some of the James Bond stuff).
But, insshc, from the few scores you mentioned when you posed the question, you seem to have a special like for the work of James Horner. Why don't you have a look through SST's database for some of his stuff? There's tons of it. I have a bit of a personal weakness for Willow and A Beautiful Mind, among others. |

I have to say my personal James Horner fave is Bicentinal Man, especially the opening credits part where the music picks up from a slow beat to a quick tempo. I'm also partial to Dragonheart (i think that's Horner as well too). |

Yeah, Dragonheart is a great score, but it's by Randy Edelman. Agreed on Bicentennial Man... it's kind of similar to some of the tracks on A Beautiful Mind. |

I just say I have a weakness for John Barry on this subject.. covertino also has some excellent cues that are very romantic!

Considering how many times Dragonheart, and other Edelman works, show up in trailers it's surprising he doesn't get more big films. All he did last year was Son of the Mask. 
In response to the actual thread question, I found James Horner's score to Iris very sad and romantic at the same time. I'm normally not a big Horner fan, but I gotta give him credit on that one. |

Yeah, I kind of wonder why he doesn't get more work too. Maybe he's difficult to work with or something? There are a number of people around here who could probably shed some light on that question. |
