Not buying the roman general story that SloMo put forth, so I did a little googling and came up with this:

http://www.dl.ket.org/latinlit/historia/people/heroes/horatius01.htm

I don't know if it's true or not but if you can come up with something else (or heck even make up a really good juicy story) post it Very Happy

Unable to concoct anything good, cocles derived his name from what he was trying to do: concoct something. You still with me here ?

It’s a sound theory damn it.

Obviously old COCKles has a strange infatuation with his own gender. He was typing his name once while drunk and the k got left out and it just stuck with him ever since, which also left him enough time to rethink his orientation and thusly coverup his homoerotic tracks and say that "Cocles" actually has nothing to do with "Cock"

I will go with graywolf,

My two cents: I believe that Cocles had an accident in his childhood. Maybe he crashed into a treebranch with his eye, so he became blind on one eye. After this accident he named himself after the famous Horatio Cocles ("Horatio the one-eyed").

I think he picked a name so controversial that it would spawn discussions thus creating more attention for himself... Wink look we already have a thread about just his name.

The real question is would COCLES Be as famous around here if he had a different name?????
