What do yo mean "NOW" that it supports Ogg?
Winamp has supported Ogg for ages.
It supported Ogg when we were broadcasting in it, and you ripe bastards STILL wouldn't use it. |

Loveslave: I'm pretty sure OGG was first suppported in Linux and the like. Either way, it is supported. I was one of the people that used the stream when it was available. At the time, I used RHL9 and XMMS.

OK, my bad. I did use it though. Still, if Ogg were the only option available, why would anybody not use it? Can the Windows Media Player play Ogg? |

I believe it needs a plug-in.
What would happen is we wouldn't get enough new listeners to maintain our current level since we would be listed in the IceCast directory instead of more popular SHOUTcast. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

Other than using Winamp to listen to SST, what other options do we have both paid and free? |

I also used it! So now we have four people who we dont know that might have used it! Dun dun dun!
Why dont we just switch back to Ogg? If people really want to listen is it too hard for them to install a small plug in? It wasnt hard for me! _________________ Stargate SG1

I'm thinking along the same lines as well. Over the years, if I've really liked something and it needed a plugin, I just d/l it and away I go. It seems that there is now quite a dedicated group to SST and quite a few listeners. Wouldn't they switch if they REALLY had to? I know I would. Or, are there more issues at stake that I am unaware of? _________________ "Get it?...Got it!...GOOD!" -- The Court Jester |

Ok...I am not seeing you listed on the Windows Media player library. Can you point me in the direction to find you there? |

Shadow, in order to play the Windows Media stream, just open up IE, go to www.streamingsoundtracks.com. In the top left under "Listen", click on either one of the two Windows Media formats (dial-up or broadband). That's the best way to get to SST. I don't think it is in the Windows Media library. _________________ "Get it?...Got it!...GOOD!" -- The Court Jester |

I'm not sure what the situation is for Linux, Unix and Mac users. Are there any common players supporting Ogg there, too? |
Only solution I have heard is using winamp in combination with wine. Havent tested it out myself. I dont have access to a linux computer with a soundcard. |

XMMS is the most popular audio player for Linux, and it has had support for Ogg Vorbis files long long ago. It can be compiled for other UNIXs, even on the Solaris platform. I don't know about MacOS, but there is a chance it runs on MacOS X. |
