Is the end to "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" too long, (considering, of course, that it is ending 3 movies, not just 1)? |

Not surprised, to see which one is winning. Even if you haven't read the books, this ending is great, I sat through hours of watching the films, and (i have also read them) but some friends who haven't said they would have been pissed if it was just cut off. they liked the long closing for the same reason I did. It closes the story like a good book would, and for that reason i have never seen this movie as a typical hollywood movie where right after the climax its over. This ending was like cuddling after... uhm.... dancing. |

***Okay, I guess I should post a SPOILER WARNING! so I don't get chastised by Cocles ***
Even though I've read LOTR several times, I don't think the films conveyed that the true hero/protagonist was Sam so ROTK didn't need his homecoming for closure. The film already showed Sam happily married to Rosie. Frodo is still the primary narrator towards the end of the film, so I would have preferred an ending with the ships going into the west.

***SPOILER WARNING FOR BOOK*** (edit by Cocles)
The ending to The Return of the King tied everything up nicely. Peter Jackson ended the trilogy much better than what was in the books. _________________ "I wanna introduce you to a personal friend of mine. This is an M41A pulse rifle. Feel better, Cocles? Does it matter if i give away the ending to Return of the King book? It may actually get people who haven't read the books to start reading them. I've seen it happen to thousands of people. I've edited my post so now you have nothing to complain about. I already promised you in the Kill Bill forum that it won't happen again! _________________ "I wanna introduce you to a personal friend of mine. This is an M41A pulse rifle. Hmmm... does it spoil the book for you at all if someone blurts out the ending... hmmm...
Wow, that's a doozy. I'll have to think about that one.
And thank you for not posting spoiler warnings. You don't need to edit you content. Just give your readers a heads up. |

Yes, it was too long and BLAH. I must have almost stodd up three times. It would fade, and then come back. My sis kept asking me if it was ending yet. Bad editing. _________________ Stargate SG1

Soundtrack_nut you are a nut. If YOU get up three times when watching an ending then just leave. You ruin the movie for others when you stand up in front of them... Besides people who are too impatient to watch credits come up on the screen shouldn't see movies (IMHO). Its an ending for what is a 9 hour movie... seriously that last moment of Sam walking home is so insignifigant time wise that no one should complain, it was a tribute to those who actually knew how to read the books.
Hows that for a debate Trickspine? |
