Unfortunately Chandler I don't think most of our listeners are smart enough to figure that out. |

GiTS aka Ghost in the Shell, isn't even a soundtrack here anymore... and even if it was. No.
I'm sick of Cal saying, "I like GiTS." followed by another newb saying "What's GiTS? I'm confused."
If it's that hard for you to type "Ghost in the Shell" then you shouldn't be here. |

First of all, the FAQ is brilliant again.
Second, the use of accronyms:
Even I get confused sometimes about what people make up. For instance LOTR is common nowadays, but I've seen people using the complete title. It took me some time to figure LOTR-TTT out (The Two Towers).
I am here for over a year and reading a lot of posts and sometimes I really don't know what people mean.
POTC is a great example (Passion of the Christ or Pirates of the Caribbean) how someone could be fooled. Also when we talk about composers; Use their names. We don't know these people personally.
In here, we consider that everyone is a friend and a soundtracklover. Although I don't know the members personally, I know more about them then, for instance, Hans Zimmer or James Horner.
We don't abbreviate our names, do we?
(Well, maybe the old-timers do....)
By the way, I also didn't know what Caliburn meant by GiTS (Ghost In The Shell). I loved the movie though.

Holy old thread revival, Batman. Isn't there something in the FAQ about that?
A gift certificate is where you pay money to a vendor and they give you a certificate that can be redeemed with them for the amount you initially gave. You can give this certificate to somebody and they can spend it.
For example: You give amazon.com $20 for a gift certificate. You give that certificate to SST. SST now has $20 to spend at amazon.com. I'm sure that amazon can offer more details about it.
The advantage is that A) you're entering into a financial transaction with, say, amazon.com (who you may trust more than some other organization), B) you know that your money will be spent at amazon, presumably on soundtracks, and C) SST gets to purchase the soundtrack JERIC chooses.
