I was watching a programme tonight called: The Rise Of The Celebrity Class (about how the lives of celebrities are totally different to the lives of people who aren't celebrities) and I noticed they used the opening titles to Alien.

It was used for one scene where Martin Sheen was walking down a road saying "hello" to passing fans and generally being mobbed by people. It was used very cleverly, but somehow I couldn't help but think of John Hurt's chest exploding!

Also heard Outland years ago on a radio play.

So where have you heard bits of soundtracks used in other shows?

There's a multitude of examples if you count movies that are winking at the movie that the music comes from... just as an example, the Star Wars main title as the car goes flying over a rise in the road in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

But there's also a lot of cases like the one you've described, mellowman (not obvious winks)... the first one that pops into my head is the use of Hans Zimmer's music from Broken Arrow in Wes Craven's Scream 2.
