I'll pick "Predator" by Silvestri - a fantastic action score that changed film scoring. And it works just wonderful in the movie - one of my favorite scores of all time. I've just bought the "Special Extended Edition" CD.
Edit: If you choose "other", please specify which score it is.

I had it on my list but decided to drop it because - I don't know why. |

Total Recall was 1990. Is that what you meant? Or did you mean another Goldsmith score?
I don't think I can chose the best action score of all time.... but can I add a shout for Van Helsing for sheer relentless action music.. |

Conan the Barbarian! The music drives that movie.
Arnold was pure, before he was tainted by the Kennedy mind-washing.

Total Recall (1990) is what I meant. Thanks for pointing it out, mellowman.
I'd really appreciate if a mod could correct this mistake. |

Indiana Jones. No other soundtrack brings to mind a movie, my childhood and and a sense of wonder like this one. |

Van Helsing was a really good action score. _________________ "I wanna introduce you to a personal friend of mine. This is an M41A pulse rifle. Ten millimeter with over-and-under thirty millimeter pump action grenade launcher." |

I think of an 'action' score as being something from a movie that's pretty much all action, like Total Recall. Since the field includes things like "Conan", my vote goes to Goldsmith's "The Wind and the Lion" That music captures the romance, drama, cultural feel, sense of landscape and exhilirating action of another time and place to perfection. It's complex and original but accessible, varied but integrated, and I think the Raisuli's 'fighting theme' is easily one of the best action themes ever. |

Ebay. Varèse Sarabande only made about 3000 copies. It's sold out now. |
