@maddy, you're correct, it's from an original Star Trek episode where the Kelvans from the Andomeda galaxy assume human form and "dehydrate" the crew of the Enterprise into these dodecahedron shapes. The command crew gets back control of the ship by showing the Kelvans they've been in human form so long that they practically are humans (memorable scene is Scotty getting one of the Kelvan's drunk on something "green")
