Yep, that's correct Cal. It's basically a White Russian with Coke in it.

No, No, No. A White Russian is Vodka Kahlua and cream/milk. No "soda" anywhere. Nothing at all the same!! That's like saying a pina colada and a rum and coke are the same thing because the have ONE similar/same ingredient! (Rum, in case you don't know)

Now you're confusing me, lotrfan. That's what a paralyzer is... vodka, kahlua, milk... (which is a White Russian) and coke.

So if a White Russian = Vodka + Kahlua + Milk

and a Paralyzer = (Vodka + Kahlua + Milk) + Coke

we substitute the term and get:

Paralyzer = White Russian + Coke

So what are you disagreeing with?

By the way, I like the Miranda Otto avatar.

When I visited Katz's deli in NYC this past November, I thought I'd go for something that I'd heard of but had never come across in any of my travels: an egg cream.

For those that don't know what the heck that is, it's chocolate syrup, milk and seltzer water. And yes, it's just as disgusting as that list of ingredients sounds.

You New York people scare me Wink

But you are talking about actual natural whole foods, not a concoction. Egg cream is a concoction.

And altoid, there is no ape in apricot, especially since there is no e in apricot

From the page I linked...

Quote:
According to NYCA, the original egg cream was produced in Manhattan. The syrup which was used was made with eggs, and cream was used to give it a richer taste. Later milk and regular syrup were employed, but the name was kept.

ppl call it "soft drink" here..that's the general term anyway, other than that it's called by brand name.

no idea why it's called 'soft' drink. personally I've never drunk the stuff so I don't know the logic of it.

pop.. that is such a weird name..

I believe it's called "soft drink" because they were first created as an alternative to hard (i.e. alcoholic) drinks. I know that some brewers used to make them; in fact Thomas Kemper both brews beer and make a darn good draft root beer.
