Yes, after 90 minutes of pushing, the doctor ended up doing a cesarean. Both mom and child are fine and should be out of the hospital on Tuesday.
The father told me that they named the boy after me, although I have a feeling that they might be telling that to all their friends who have any variation of the name James
If it is the case that they've named him after me, my god that poor kid is in for a shock when he finds out. Really, it could scar him for life. |

90 minutes of pushing and then the C-section? That's bad. I thought it was bad enough when the doctor ordered the C-section after 18 hours of labor. My wife never got to the pushing stage--the dilation numbers started going down again. I just thank God for modern medicine. If this happened not too many years ago, I'd be a widower... |

My wife = 42 hours labor on first child, but otherwise very much like yours Jazz: dilation just never got going and they decided to do a C. Then, while I'm gowned up and in there, they realizee that her local was wearing out so the kicked me out of there and put her under general. But all was fine in the long run.
Second baby, scheduled the c-section: Highly recommend this! _________________ "insert your own clever quote here.... I'm too lazy to do it." |

Okay, i had 18 hours of labor w/ number two, no c-section. Finally she decided to come, 3 pushes and she was out. Lots of pain. Lots of tearing,... She was two weeks early, no one expected her to be 8.5 pounds. (And I am not a large woman) _________________ 'He looked at her, and being a man whom pity deeply stirred, it seemed to him that her loveliness amid her grief would pierce his heart.' —Faramir's thoughts on Éowyn |

I will always have great respect for women who go through this to bring children into the world. If men had babies the whole species would die out almost instantly. |

RE Labor: Our first one we went to the hospital at 5am and weren't done until 3 in the afternoon. The hospital had really crappy TV we watched CNN all day.
The second one we went to the hospital at 7:30pm and were done about 11pm. This time Jumanji was on. And at least she had the decency to wait till I was done with dinner that time. |
