Just an evolution from this poll
From where does your favourite beer originate?
Self reply: Irish, I love Irisch beer, especially Guinness and Red Murphies. Belgian beer takes a good second place with De Koninck, Palm, and Stella. |

Well, Germany. But even the german beers sold in the US are watered down. I prefer to get it straight from Munich. But since that is a long trek, I usually get something from Ireland or the Netherlands. _________________ http://allthingstolkienandlewis.blogspot.com/

Well, I know quite a lot of beers. But german beers? I only know Warsteiner. Germans drink a lot of beer, but they dont really export to the Netherlands here. That is why I didnt include them. So they export to the States? If so which brands? |

I'm looking for the "neither, I don't like beer" option.
But I guess that's out of question |

MIne is from the states, but its from my state... New Glarus WI, Spotted cow is my favorite... But I am trying out others too.
WI has butt loads of local(in state) brews. Its almost sad...what the hell am I saying. No its not! |

Mine's Irish, but not Guinness as one might suspect. I much preferred Murphy's Stout over Guinness. It was a close call, though. I'm a big fan of Grolsch too.
And given the spotty availability of many European beers here, I often tend to go with a local microbrewery. There's a great selection of excellent regular beers and some really nice seasonal beers produced by a local brewery called Granville Island Brewery. I've especially been enjoying the Hefeweizen they've released just for the summer season. |

Here! Here!
But I don't think we can get that here. Our beer selectin bites. We had a great brew pub at one point, but after the yuppy newness wore off, it went under. _________________ http://allthingstolkienandlewis.blogspot.com/

I'd say that it would be an unfair generalization to say that I like the beer in any one country over the others. The fact is, I've had great beer and bad beer that comes from Canada, the US, Ireland, Germany, etc, etc, etc.
Some of the US microbrews are great. Shiner Bock from Central Texas is pretty decent. Big Rock from the Canadian West is pretty good. And for a mass produced beer, Stella Artois is surprisingly good. Oh, and I like Guinness too... but mostly because drinking one somehow feels like you're drinking an entire meal. |

I won't generalize a favourite country for beer making (well maybe a province), but I will generalize a type. I hate stout! can't stand that dark stuff at all.
I prefer ales mostly. There are a lot of micro breweries in Nova Scotia that only make beer for their restaurants so none of you will ever taste them If you are ever down in Kentville, NS check out Paddy's pub. They make all types of beer (5 styles I think) if yuo can't choose you can get the taster (all of them).
Mainstream beer is schooner when in NS, or Keiths India Pale Ale in the rest of Canada. _________________ Pixie "Actually Tree, I wasn't referring to you as a dingus, but seems like you might just qualify as one now!" |

Ooh, forgot that one. There are some great microbrews around, they just don't sell here in redneckville. (Which is only where I live, not where I grew up) _________________ http://allthingstolkienandlewis.blogspot.com/
