Difficult choice for me between Star Wars (the first film I ever saw at the cinema) and Jurassic Park simply for the impact those movies had on the big screen.
I saw Star Wars when I was 8 so that opening scene with the blockade runner and the star destroyer just took my breath away.
But if you strip away the sfx then I'd have to say Apocalypse Now - a very impressive film. |

A screening of the original Star Wars at the Prince Charles Cinema near Leicester Square. This was pre-1997 rereleases, so it was the original film (where Han shoots first, as it *should* be). It had been more than a few years since I'd seen the film, even on video. The admission was cheap, I had no expectations of print quality, and I figured that it would be sparsely attended at best.
Imagine my surprise when the theatre was packed and the print was in pristine condition. The audience was completely into seeing the film and the laughter and cheering occurred in all the appropriate places. It was the closest in feeling I'd had since seeing it for the first time in 1977. Very memorable.
*****
In terms of the "theatrical" experience, that would probably have to go with a screening of the remastered "Das Boot". The reworked surround sound is probably the best I've ever heard. I kept looking over my shoulder to see who was talking during the movie (in German, no less), only to realize that it was actually part of the soundtrack. I don't think I've experienced such an immersion in the setting of a film before or since. |

Schindler's List - Never have to see it again
The Matrix - I didn't know *nothing* about this movie before I saw it. |

E.T. was the most powerful filmgoing experience for me when I was little. The music can still make me cry.
I also had a difficult time watching Schindler's List in the theater and it was a lot more moving because of the audience I saw it with. Everyone seemed quite shaken afterward. Many elderly Jewish ladies with their adult children. |

In terms of impact on the big screen I'd have to go with Terminator 2, Jurrasic Park and Batman for me. _________________ "Don't you think that idea is a little half-baked?

Snow white, when I was a little girl. The forest with the grabbing branches gave me nightmares.
Babette's Feast. It is a very quiet film, and every time I watch it I have that nearly zen feeling, quiet, content, calm, and tears in my eyes. _________________ My reality cheque bounced |

I've seen so many movies at the cinema that the it's hard to think of just a few. But I can say that the first one to really hit me in a cinema was T2. It's still one of the greatest action films ever made.
If I had gone to the Star Wars trilogy in theatres, that probably would have done it too, but my parents didn't really take me to the cinema when I was a kid. I had to wait until I was old enough to go by myself. It wasn't that they were trying to censor, they just didn't go very much either. |

I was pretty much blown away by "Se7en". One of the best films I've ever seen.

I went into The Usual Suspects not knowing anything about it...didn't see a trailer or even heard about...my folks talked me into seeing it. "The Mummy" and "SW Phantom Menace" when I was young(er). And the three "LOTR", "Minority Report" and "day after tomorrow (the twisters)" in recent years. |

Yep, me too. I went to a sneak-preview. I didn't know what movie we got and this was it. At the end, I wanted to see it again. Amazing.
Samething happend to Fight Club. Thought we were going to an action-movie with lost of fighting
I know better now. It's one of my Top 5 favourites. _________________ In a world without justice, one man was chosen to protect the innocent. |

I would have to say the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy for me. Unbelievable! I try to imagine what Mr. Tolkien's reaction would be if he were still around ... _________________ "Get it?...Got it!...GOOD!" -- The Court Jester |
