I'm curious who you all think, thus far, will win next years Oscar for best score...
My pick would be Williams: HP - Prisoner of Azkaban |

I won't comment as to what I think may be nominated at the oscars but my favorite soundtrack this year is Van Helsing. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

I think it's a bit too early to nominate the Oscarnominees because we it's only the end of july.
But if I have to pick one for now, it will be "Van Helsing".
Although I haven't heard anything from it, I excpect good things from Spiderman 2. _________________ In a world without justice, one man was chosen to protect the innocent. |

OK, maybe to early for oscar pics but I'm still interested to find out what you all feel has been the best ST of 2004. |

I like Hellboy but it will probably be overlooked at Oscar time. |

It's about time for Danny Elfman to get a nod - but he's the most unlikely guy to win an Oscar. Ever.
(I'm still not over the fact that "Edward Scissorhands" wasn't even nominated...) |

Terminal, Hidalgo, and the Village could also be contenders. |

I would pick John Williams "Harry Potter 3"
I loved "Van Helsing" but I don't think the Academy will recognize it.
What about "Secret Window"? That was pretty cool... as far as I remember. Atleast while I was watching the movie, I was thinking that the music was very cool. |

The Terminal (John Williams) and The Passion of the Christ (John Debney) seem to be likely nominees. I'd love to see Alan Silvestri get nominated for Van Helsing (though it probably won't happen). _________________ "I wanna introduce you to a personal friend of mine. This is an M41A pulse rifle. oh! I forgot about the "Passion of the Christ" score. That one could very possibly pick of a nomination. It was very powerful. |

Hmmm, would it be politically correct for Passion of Christ to win an oscar though? |

Elfman said that he would not be nominated even if there was a 'Best Danny Elfman score' category.
Ennio Morricone should get one soon before it's too late, but he has not done anything released in the US this year.
Love Harry Potter (but Williams will not win), love Spiderman 2 (we'll see if it even gets nominated). My latest favourite was the terribly nice and elegant The Incredibles, though. _________________ --

Spider-Man 2 hasn't qualified for consideration for an Academy Award (->sequel)

Yeah, read that too somewhere.
Here are my nominations for "Best Danny Elfman score":
Caspar - James Horner
Spider-Man 2 - John Debney & Christopher Young
Harry Potter - John Williams
Cyrano de Bergerac - Jean-Claude Petit
The Addams Family - Marc Shaiman |

Most of the time, the movie who won "Best Picture" was nominated for best score too, or even won best score. So I guess "The Incredibles" score has good chances to at least get a nomination - not bad for Michael Giacchinos first full-blown cinema effort. (I guess he only did "Sin" before which was straight to video). |
