How about Zimmer's Last Samurai and King Arthur?

My personal favourite from 2004 at the moment is Powell's Bourne Surpremacy.

I don't know. But then wouldn't that rule out all the star wars and LOTR's? or do they only consider it a sequel if it has a 2 behind it

The Last Samurai came out in December 2003. Does that sill count for 2004?

How about Finding Neverland and Alexander? Aviator might be in it too, although I haven't heard that one yet.

I don't think so,Shock:
I remember the Godfather part II won the best score oscar in 1974...
And many sequels were nominated or even won oscars (the visual effects nomination is a good example):
the Empire Strikes Back,Return of the Jedi,Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,Aliens,T2,the Two Towers...

And my preference for best score this year would be Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban...and i agree Zirael,i hope the Aviator's score will be nominated, even if didn't hear it yet...

It's a new rule, DocJones, and I'm not talking about "visual effects" and stuff, but about "best score". It has to be a certain percentage of new music to get a nomination, That's why "The Two Towers" wasn't nominated.

I didn't knew that...
I wonder how it is determined...
The Godfather part II would have never won the best score oscar with this rule...There's a lot of themes of the part I in it...
Do you know the specifications of this new rule,Shock?

I just did some research and I found out that if John Williams gets two nominations he will become the most oscar nominated person ever.
62 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer
59 Walt Disney
43 Alfred Newman
42 Warner Bros.
42 John Williams
Offcourse we rule out the production companies.
Is this correct?

Haven't changed my mind. Still going with King Arthur. I just bought the soundtrack this week-end. Thanks SST for making me discover this soundtrack since I would never have seen this movie! Unfortunately, King Arthur came out too long ago so I am pretty sure it will not win. They usually award the latest movies. It is very annoying.
