Currently I am listening to the l365 web player. As some of you may know, at work I am running linux and are behind a very strict firewall. I have done nothing with proxy servers or something.

I even have the impression it is in mp3pro! (cant check the kHz, but it sounds very good)

I am afraid you need to be a preferred member to get

- no ads on the stream
- mp3pro instead of mp3 (edit/update: no mp3pro with web based player you need l365 stand alone player)

Mind you these above (bad) things are only applied to their player. You have no ads with winamp and can have mp3pro if you installed the mp3pro plugin but then you still have the firewall problem...

The advantages

- no firewall problems
- mp3pro under linux ! (woohoo!!!!!!!)

I hope it is not a one time thing. Can other people try it too, if it really works without a firewall?

If I am right, for a couple of bucks a month you can

- listen to SST without problems
- listen to mp3pro under linux
- support SST by listening to the stream as a preferred member
- get a SST VIP membership if you register over there for more than a year.

Damnit damnit, no mp3pro with the web based player. I have updated the above post.

So in general, it is still good for people like me who have are a prefered member at l365 and are running linux. No more free proxies for me.

Damnit mp3pro builders, please port it to linux, I am begging you.... :-|

I hope aacPlus will swoop down and come to the rescue soon.

I don't understand why you can't use a proxy in Winamp.

I can use a proxy in xmms (linux winamp clone). But it is a pain to get free proxies. They buffer from time to time and dissapear suddenly resulting in finding me a new one that works.

In a nutshell it takes me time I am supposed to work. With the web player I dont have that and I have track titles as a bonus too :-)

You can use Proxy's in Winamp. You can even use proxy's that require a login and password.

I've had instructions in the newbie faq since second edition.

He knows that but finding one that works is a chore. Been there done that. That's the main reason I created port 80 streams. Too bad that can't be applied to L365. Cal, I had one that worked perfectly for many months. I will PM/IM you one that I use now.

Of the 3 ways that I have available to me for connecting to SST (LAN, Dialup to my own ISP, Dialup through a customer's RAS (shhhhh)), I can only get L365 by using my own dialup. Unfortunately, it prevents my wife from getting on from home.

Cal, in answer to your request, my office LAN is blocking everything from L365 and the standalone player (Radio365) can't access it either.

I have yet to get a proxy to work from behind my office's filters. Guess it's time to buy the IT guys more donuts.

Hmm since this morning I am having trouble connecting to the web player again.

I am back to xmms with a free proxy. Have to check it out. Maybe it was the IT department who gave my access by accident or something. Very weird.

I tend to have mixed connections with L365. About 50% of the time I can connect just by bringing up Winamp, gettng the last bookmark, and clicking play. The remaining 50% I must go to the site iteself and click the player, etc. About 80% of that 50% I just click that play button and its all good. But about 20% of the time I have to do a CTRL-click on the play button (which actually opens another blank window), then go back to the previous window and click the play again. I used to think this was purely based on listener load, but it doesnt seem to be related.
