Not so much a "favorite" but:
Pretty much any auto accident where somebody's not wearing their seatbelt qualifies as stupid to me. Oh, and drunk driving. When will people learn?
Is that what you're looking for Shock, or were you
looking for something a little more humorous?

i agree, but oddly enough, i know of several people who lived b/c they did NOT have their seatbelts on. and a few who died b/c they did. It always makes me skeptical (but yes I wear mine)
and drunk driving is a big pet peeve of mine. I lost 6 friends in one summer b/c of it( 2 wrecks) _________________ 'He looked at her, and being a man whom pity deeply stirred, it seemed to him that her loveliness amid her grief would pierce his heart.' —Faramir's thoughts on Éowyn |

Yeah, everybody's got a "survived because they weren't wearing their seatbelt" story.
I don't buy it. Most of them were just lucky to have survived.
Vehicles today are constructed to protect the passenger (and do a fine job) but they're designed with the assumption that the passenger is in the seat.
Once you're unrestrained all bets are off.
However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to carry something like this.
Oh, and you can always ask this guy about wearing a seatbelt.

Edit: And don't drive tired. Or while on the phone. Not even hands free. |

Actually, I was more looking for stuff like puppies swallowing knives (and surviving)
or exploding whales
... if you call that "humorous". I'd call it "unusual".
Read full stories here (if you dare).
As for drunk driving: I lost a close friend because she got hit by a car, "driven" by a drunk person, when she was walking home from cinema. She got killed immediately. She was 17. The driver survived without injuries and never went to jail. I would never call that a "stupid accident". I'd call it murder.

actually j2, the people i know an unusually high number of people given the statistics, but all the people were thrown from the vehicle lived, all those seatbelted in died (in 3 different accidents - where both occurred) my roommate and i were in one that she wasn't hurt b/c she didn't have hers on. _________________ 'He looked at her, and being a man whom pity deeply stirred, it seemed to him that her loveliness amid her grief would pierce his heart.' —Faramir's thoughts on Éowyn |

I think what you likely have here is a case where people survived when not wearing their seatbelts. That's completely different than surviving because they're not wearing your seatbelt.
Shock: Ah, you want unusual accidents. I'm sure I can come up with something. I'll get back to you.

This guy managed to get his car hanging from the wires. He jumped from the car and ran to the bus stop on the corner. The car ran for a while (until the oil drained out and it seized up).
Don't know the story here. Of course, now everybody's seen that guy from Korea with one in his head.
I'm sure I'll think of more later.

The knee x-ray is kind of like a choose your own adventure story.
There are so many possibilities of stupidity there, but something tell me it had 2 key elements: alcohol and a nail gun.
Nothing like a good laugh at someone else's expense. |

That is a good idea. I'll have to get my hubby to order me one of those. He is a Police Officer and orders from Galls all the time.

My hubby showed me this one the other day. Wow, I agree seatbelts are a must when driving. _________________ "Education's responsibility is to replace an empty mind with an open one" --Malcolm Forbes |
