We had another system crash. This time there was damage. We lost about the last weeks worth of data. I'll keep you informed.

I sympathize. I hate when this happens... I lost one year of research myself like that at the beginning of my PhD... I had made a back-up on something that also crashed. All gone...

Glad to hear that you're changing providers. Whatever steps you need to take to prevent this from happening again, you should take. It's terrible to lose that much information. |

I'm registered on a lot of portal powered by PHP-Nuke and I receive 4 newsletter (throw 2 days) from diferent portal sa like that:

Yikes. I know the feeling when something like this happens.  Out of curiosity, do you run RAID, specfically level 5? If not, might I suggest it? I know it can get expensive, but I have an SATA RAID 5 box that I do testing on here at work and it was only 600 bucks for the RAID setup. It screams. You should have seen it format the disks.  Only problem is that it got hot, burning to the touch, but that was fixed by adding an extra fan. Just a suggestion from a lowly listener. Since you are running Windows 2000, you shouldn't have any problems with installing the controller. [offtopic]I'm curious as to why you moved off of 2003 back to 2000[/offtopic]
Edit: Gah, I know I shouldn't have trusted netcraft. :/ Back on FreeBSD I see.

RAID5 is too rich for us now but maybe when we build our own server.
