Sat Apr 02, 2005 7:40 am Post subject: Stream Quality Feedback Requested |
|
There have been complaints of certain streams buffering and sounding awkward lately. I've experienced some of this myself. Providing your feedback on quality of the stream will help us isolate the problem.
I'm also going to leave this up for a while so you all can give feedback on how we can improve the technology aspects of the stream. This includes crossfading, sound quality, hissing, etc.
Please provide your feedback, bad or good. Also please mention which stream URL your referring to; Live365 or SHOUTcast, Ogg - 64k or 32k.
Thank you! _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

OK - I think I fixed the problems we've been having.
Only post feedback about buffering/skipping/dropouts after me posting this. Any buffer problems before this post I already know about so I don't need to know.
However keep the feedback coming about the other stuff. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

OK, I've disabled the Now Playing countdown for now. It will refresh every 60 seconds instead. _________________ "Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?." -Maximus

Instead of every 60 seconds it will now refresh randomly 2-45 seconds after a song has finished playing. This is a bit more accurate and will eliminate a lot of unnecessary refreshes. If this proves to be a good solution we might lower the random values to 2-30 seconds. _________________ Who is General Failure and why is he reading my disk? |

An hour ago I was having skips in the stream every 2 seconds or so on the Live365 stream. A reload of the stream seemed to fix the problem since it's been playing for one hour uninterrupted... might have been a glitch on my computer... might have been a bug with the stream... anyhow, just thought I'd let you know. _________________ "Anything one man can imagine,

No skipping here (anymore). Listening to L365 64k. _________________ In a world without justice, one man was chosen to protect the innocent. |

I had a couple of skips this morning, right after I installed mp3Pro on WinAmp (64k). That would be about 90 min prior to this post.
