Great, Tree!

I bought Curved Music II together with Gedo Senki but I didn't know the album was only 20 minutes long... The music comes from commercials that Hisaishi made for popular japanese brands. Nice, but I'd not recommend it because of the length (bad length / price ratio Very Happy)

So, what do you think about Gedo Senki? Did you vote in the Request forum, mmm? Razz

Hi there!

For those of you who like the Gedo Senki score and wonders what the movie is about, there is a nice article here: http://www.ghibliworld.com/gedosenkiatviff2006.html

The movie was shown at the Venice International Film Festival and received mixed reviews from the critics and a standing ovation from the audience.

I just can't wait to see it! (release in january 2007 in France, if everything goes well)

Hayao Miyazaki will release a new movie in 2008!

As read on Ghibli World:

Quote:

According to Ghibli's production diary (japanese only) of September 26, the storyboard of Hayao Miyazaki's new film is painted in watercolor. Because of this it is printed with a color copier, and distributed to the main staff as a special edition instead of a regular black-and-white Ekonte. Studio Ghibli’s production diary mentions "Even we have not seen a colored storyboard very often. Of course it is the first time for a Studio Ghibli film".

According to the production diary of September 27, the expression method of Studio Ghibli’s next film is really ambitious. Since the staff have to confirm the processing method of every cut, production becomes very hard. Therefore, it is very difficult to manage the production period.

Anyway, yesterday (production diary of September 29) it was announced that animation production will begin next week. If this film will be released in summer 2008, the production term will be about 20 months, which is longer than Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle. In a recent interview Producer Toshio Suzuki mentioned "There won’t be a change in the fact of us releasing a film every 2 years". Spirited Away took 16 months and 26 days to produce (2/1/2000 - 6/27/2001), Howl's Moving Castle took 17 months and 6 days (2/1/2003 - 7/7/2004).

That's great news! Can't wait! Smile

I saw that on the list last week. I am very excited! But I am also very annoyed that they didn't release a poster or a title, or a background story or SOMETHING!

Smile

A (mixed) review of Tales from Earthsea can be found here:

http://www.lovehkfilm.com/panasia/tales_from_earthsea.htm

I know I discussed that in the chat already, but I didn't find any confirmation until now:

Quote:
Thanks to the licensing deal that allowed the Sci-Fi Channel to create their 2004 TV miniseries Earthsea, there is an embargo on any Earthsea adaptation in North America until the year 2009. As such, a potential Disney version of Tales from Earthsea (Disney has a licensing deal with Studio Ghibli, e.g. Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke) won't be showing up anytime soon. For once Disney isn't the one who messed this one up.

Bad, bad! The movie will hopefully be released sooner in Europe (beginning of 2007 in France, not confirmed yet).
