Well first question for you is do you like NHL hockey?
A hockey pool is when a bunch of people get together and pick teams (made up of current NHL stars) and then the teams play against each other (in a fictional sense). Every day a certain amount of points are accumulated, depending on how your players did in their games that night.
You can either have head-to-head games versus other players teams (me versus you) or total points for the year (top team wins).
My league will be head to head with a maximum of 16 players in my league. It is all done online with Yahoo. It is fun if you like hockey.

I think this is not for me... I was never attracted by football (well, soccer) nor rugby so I guess it won't be better with hockey. But I should try so see a 'live' hockey match nearby to be sure

Yeah, you wold have to be interested and understand hockey to be in the pool. It would be hard to play if you didn't know the rules and such!
