None of those listed in the poll, imo....

They are worthy but Mr. Herrmann would get my vote.

Ben Hur is pretty fine as well. Laughing

as the list stands I would have to say Star Wars if you consider all 6 scores together...

uh-huh. Confused

In the "other" category, I nominate Star Trek II: TWOK, Horner's first "big" studio score, IMO the most rousing music you'll ever hear. This is the score that introduced me to movie music in the first place, but it's still my favorite.

Otherwise, I'd also hear arguments for Jaws, Batman, or Raiders of the Lost Ark.

The Star Wars theme is in my eyes the best of the listed but not my favourite. What's with Morricones "Le Vent, Le Cri" from the French film "Le Professionell"?

Come on guys, there's a million scores missed from the list... no Goldsmith, no Rozsa, no Herrmann, no Morricone.... this would be better without the poll or a poll as long as your arm!

Agreed. Not to forget Max Steiner or Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

But actually you can't define the "BEST" filmmusic, because the only possibility to evaluate it would be several scores in comparison for the SAME film.
You can't compare a great comedy score with a drama score because there are not the same basics given.

And last, but not least... no list without Goldsmith for me Wink

Impossible to choose one, that's my vote. And I agree with bpewien. If I absolutely had to choose one from the list, it would probably be LOTR/Star Wars.

No, I can't choose one. Dangit!
