Now that we have other classic movie musical scores (Fiddler on the Roof, Music Man, Sound of Music, etc), I think it's time to add "The King and I". Gotta admit, this is my favorite movie musical.
I tried to get the album cover to show up but I can't figure out how, even after reading Jeric's post. Any one of the wonderful mods or admins who might be able to come to my rescue on that would be greatly appreciated!
Come on, who can resist Yul Brynner in those sexy short pants? _________________ Keep smiling. It makes people wonder what you're up to. |

Your wish is my command, Goober
Angel Records 7243-5-27351-2-9 (2001 release)
Although there have been many releases of The King and I (both stage and film) on LP and CD, the one above is the version SST should acquire, imho. It has all the songs of the first release plus 30 minutes additional, previously unreleased music (total 75 min).
There’s a wonderful review at Film Score Monthly .
Searching around the net, I couldn't find it for purchase anywhere (including Amazon) except at iClassics for $16.
Great suggestion, Goober! It’s funny about musicals on SST – people seem to either love them or hate them. That said, I’ve never seen any complaints when The Sound of Music plays. The King and I is unquestionably one of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s greatest musicals, and would be a wonderful (educational) addition to the SST library… not to mention fun looking at Yul, too.

Okay now watch carefully, as there will be a quiz on it later...
1. Go to a site where the cover art image is shown.
2. RIGHT-click on the cover art image.
3. From the drop-down menu, SELECT Copy Image Location
4. TYPE [img]
5. PASTE (Ctrl-V). The image location link will appear.
6. TYPE [/img]
7. Press the Preview button to see if it works.
Now go on and show us the puffy short-wearing, finger wagging Yul Brenner!
(Once again, I have been bested by a matter of minutes in posting. Et cetera, et cetera...) _________________ When all else fails, consider time travel.
