I mentioned this in the chat already, but in case my friends here didn't see it, here's the website of Ángel Illarramendi. He's a composer that deserves a lot more attention. I first heard about him from the BSOSpirit site, where there is a full review (in Spanish) of his 2 CD compilation. Those who like rich string writing and composers with artistic sensibilities may enjoy his work. The audio clips are fantastic!

Wow! What a great find. Those samples are incredible. His style is very classically oriented, especially his counterpoint, but he manages to put his own flair into it enough to show his personal creativity and influences in the more modern sense. Very beautifully arranged and composed music. Somebody give this guy a movie to score in the states! Or at least one that will be released more widely.
Something else I just realized, a lot of his accompniment for some of his songs is very Philip Glass-esque in terms of minimalistic and based on repeating small motifs over and over; the really neat thing is the melodies that he layers on top of these. Again I say, great find!
