Thankfully, it doesn't go on with the staggering speed as in the intro, Caliburn _________________ Music is not just made of sounds. It is also made of silence. |

Just a quick update
Got through books 2,3,4 and 5 of the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series and I'm currently half way through book 6, HOT SIX. Pretty entertaining series but I may need to break it up in the middle with a book with a tad more substance. _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow. - James Dean |

Right now I'm reading "The Bookthief".
It tells the tale of Lissel, a german girl in WWII, who lost her brother which starved to death and her mother that gave her to a foster family.
Lissel grows up with a few friends and the book documents her "adventures". She then pics up the habit to steal books.
Also here is a little fact: You will die!
And here is a second fact: Death will visit the bookthief 3 times!
I really like the book. It's very well written and sucked me in during my sweden holiday. |

Finished books 6, 7, 8, 9 and the novella Visions of Sugar Plums from the Janet Evanovich series in the past few weeks.
Last night I decided to take a short break and start reading my bday present from the hubby - THE BEST OF ME by Nicholas Sparks. He's one of my favorite authors and this is his latest book. So far it's pretty darn good _________________ Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die tomorrow. - James Dean |

Just finished Crossed, the sequel to Matched, by Ally Condie.
I recommend this series to those who liked the Hunger Games. Teen love triangle - check. Repressive society that kills off people early - check. Underground rebellion that the teens get involved with - check.
One of the nice things about this series is that it uses art and poetry as symbols of resistance since there are only a hundred sanctioned paintings, books, and poems. The arts are considered secondary in a society focused on genetic perfectionism and ideal genetic matches.
The main character, Cassie, is caught between her "match" and another boy, Ky, who is considered an aberration in their society. She spends much of the 2nd book searching for Ky, who is sent to the outer edges of their civilization to fight a mysterious enemy. |

La Prière d'Audubon (Audubon's Prayer) from ISAKA Kôtarô. A young man wakes up on an unknown island which has been forgotten for 150 years. There he meets a talking, future predicting scarecrow who gets killed soon afterwards. With such a starting point, one can imagine that the book is highly imaginative and not too serious
I liked it; the writer's style has been compared to MURAKAMI Haruki. I just started reading 1Q84 by this author. _________________ "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" - Blade Runner |

I'm reading Timothy Powers's On Stranger Tides. I got it for my husband for Christmas, but since he's working on some Wil Wheaton volume, I decided I'd give Tides a try. So far it's good, but the people in it scare me.
In other reading news, I got a Kindle for Christmas, unbidden, and I'm trying to decide whether to keep it or return it. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

Now I read Polish edition of 'The Undercover Economist' by Tim Harford.
It's second edition of the book (with some changes from the author made after 2008 financial crisis occured)
The book gives you some interesting infos and views on principles of economy. I think it's a very good read, especially for non-economists.
Cover of UK second edition has the same colors and the same cup of coffee on it. _________________ <i>"The piano keys are black and white,

Finished On Stranger Tides. Liked it. Learned that my Kindle is not compatible with Google ebooks. Considering returning it.
Now reading The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern. Probably no relation to S. Morgenstern of The Princess Bride fame. _________________ I have a book coming out. Wanna see it?

I finished Night Circus. I confess I skimmed the last 20% or so of the book, because it became quite dull. There's a love story that happens because it must, not because the characters have any personalities with which to be attracted to each other. I think the big problem is that the titular circus is of interest only to the author. She keep telling us that it's awesome, instead of showing us. So now I'm reading Sounds and Furies, by Tanith Lee.
I kept the Kindle. Still not inspired by it.
I'm looking forward to July, though. Apparently one of my favorite books of all time is getting adapted into a comic. Probably won't be any good, but I'm a sucker that way.
