Ah. Sorry for the confusion then. In that case you should go see it again.

I happened upon a wonderful movie on cable yesterday. If you love books, especially old books, and enjoy discovering hidden treasures in tucked-way, dusty little bookshops, then this is for you.
84 Charing Cross Road (1987) is the true story of the 20-year correspondence between a woman in NYC and a bookseller in London around 1950. It stars Anne Bancroft, Anthony Hopkins, Judi Dench, and many others. Don't yawn yet. The story will absolutely suck you in from the opening lines.
This is not a love story in the romantic sense, and it quickly grows beyond the two main characters. If you enjoy movies that cover a span of time, this is for you. If you have ever had a pen-pal (or e-mail pal) and exchanged gifts and souvenirs, you will empathize with the joy experienced by these characters.
It’s not overly-sentimental, and has some wonderful humorous lines – as only the late Mrs. Mel Brooks could deliver. I’m ready to board a plane to London. |

84 Charing Cross Road is a wonderful book... or so Peach tells me. She has read it, but I haven't... yet.
A customer recommended the book to us. She thought we could identify with it since we own a small bookstore. I can tell you this... I don't think I've seen so many tears caused by a story like this one. _________________ "It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him." ~ J.R.R. Tolkien

Currently reading Vampire$ by John Steakly (a great tounge-in-cheek sort of book and humor).
Previously, read Rendezvous with Rama by Arthur C Clakre. _________________ "They named the city 'Phoenix' after the mythical bird which rises from its own ashes, and so ushered in an unbroken history of area dwellers disturbingly comfortable with the concept of self-immolation." |

I am about to start "The Prestige" by Christopher Priest. Just bought it today!
Chistopher Nolan is doing an adaptation of it for his next film!

Just read the classic German novel Homo Faber (Man the Maker), which was made into a film called Voyager about 15 years ago. It was both an intelligent book and a real page-turner. It's worth checking out if you run across it. |

I got a good laugh out of the Sisters Grimm: The Fairy Tale Detectives and Unusual Suspects even though they're for elementary age kids. The series is about two sisters who reluctantly become attached to a town of fairy-tale folks and solve strange, magical crimes. Don't read them unless you want your image of childhood fairy tale characters completely corrupted. |

Currently I am reading a picture book that would simply blow your mind. First sentence, "See Spot Run." Such a classic, I have read it several times! Recommended to all! |
