In the what are... category
I know there are many piano lovers around here so I'd like to know... what are the piano themes you like the most?
I'd go for, in no particular order :
The 6th Station - Spirited Away - Joe Hisaishi (of course! HFC forever!!)
Piano Variation in Blue - Neverland - Jan A.P Kaczmarek
Summer 78 - Goodbye Lenin - Yann Tiersen
The King and The Mocking Bird - Le Roi et l'Oiseau - Wojciech Kilar
(ok, I could go for hours... Your turn! ) |

Is this thread only for soundtrack-piano themes?
Or can you also name "classical" pieces like
"Aufschwung" by Robert Schumann or 2nd piano concerto, 2nd movement by Sergej Rachmaninov etc.? _________________ If our music survives, which I have no doubt it will,

Love Story for me, plus everything else that has been mentioned already. I'll be back with more once I really think about it. _________________ "Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens, makes her a home."

Aaah, err, well, good question I'd go for soundtrack piano themes, but there are numerous soundtracks that use classical pieces anyway. So the exercice would be to find a movie with the classical piece in it

All the Hisaishi Piano STs & Final Fantasy Piano STs are wonderful. On SST we have a wonderful ST called 10 Easy Pieces For Piano. There are some wonderful tracks on there. Another great Piano album on here is Arc the Lad. We also have the Piano Concerto's on both Amadeus and Shine that are well done. Hmm... Oh! Don't for The Pianist! There are some gorgeous Chopin pieces on there. Nice thread idea Alchemist!!! _________________ "Diaper backward spells repaid. Think about it." ~ Marshall McLuhan |

Whenever I think of piano and soundtracks, I immediately think of Forrest Gump, which also happens to be one of my favorites. _________________ "Anything one man can imagine,

I've heard some excellent Hisaishi piano themes on this website. My favorites are Final Fantasy piano themes. Other than that, my recent listenings have revealed some pretty cool piano themes in The Ring and The Ring 2. Good stuff.
Edit: Spelled Hisaishi wrong the first time. |

Excellent post Alchi !
I love pretty sad music on piano like these:
Theme from Johnny Guitar (Victor Young),
Track "cerise pour diner à deux" from The City of Lost Children (Angelo Badalamenti),
Track "The Puppet" from La Double Vie de Véronique (Zbigniew Preisner)
Theme from Luzhin Defence (Alexandre Desplat, great piano themes' composer)
Theme from The Muckinbird and the King (Wojciech Kilar, another great piano themes' composer).
But Beethoven's Moonlight Concerto is one of my favorites. |
