I got "Romancing The Stone" the other day and was very happy about this. There's a wonderful used music store here that I love to lurk in. _________________ "But as for me I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote."

I just picked up Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Such an awesome soundtrack. I think next pay check I'll pick up Dead Man's Chest _________________ "Diaper backward spells repaid. Think about it." ~ Marshall McLuhan |

Let's keep this thread for legitimate CD releases, please.
Makes no sense for folks to advertise that they're buying bootlegs in a public forum where they can get caught. Also doesn't fit in with the site's efforts to stay composer-friendly. |

That's what I thought at first, bp. Its the real deal. One of 500 ever printed. Its got extensive linear notes and great photos. (I saw pictures of the score album). I'll confirm this when I receive the album. |

I didn't want to imply that I'm buying bootlegs or being in favour of getting them.
I own the original "Alien" album (the Silva Screen release) and the 20th anniversary DVD with the isolated score, but still there's such a great deal of music from other movies of Goldsmith (and of course other composers) that is unreleased, not to say missing.
Just look at most of the for example Varèse Sarabande releases.
They rarely go over 35 minutes. (e.g. Air Force One, Small Soldiers, L.A. Confidential, Starship Troopers etc.)
So if you already own the original releases, where's the possibility of getting more?
Bootlegs may be not the best solution, but it's still something that exists whether it's accepted or not.
Long story short:
Buying the original? Sure thing!
Getting an unofficial release? That's something everybody must decide on his/her/its own.
I think everybody can live with that. |
