LAKESHORE RECORDS PRESENTS
JERUSALEM - ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK

Featuring Original Music By Michael Brook

(April 6, 2015 – Los Angeles, CA) – Lakeshore Records will release the JERUSALEM – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack digitally on April 21 and on CD May 12, 2015. The album features the film’s original score by Michael Brook (THE FIGHTER, INTO THE WILD).

“The filmmakers took great care with the film because Jerusalem is obviously a place that many people have strong, and differing, opinions about,” said Michael Brook. “They were very careful to not load things emotionally or politically. The goal was to inform people and give some historic background about how this particular spot on earth came to be so important to many people – important to the three major religions, which though they overlap in some ways, are usually regarded as particularly different or distinct.”

Michael Brook is a Canadian, Golden Globe® and Grammy® nominated composer, producer and recording artist recognized for his unique style of composition that traverses ambient, world, Americana, electronic and orchestral territories. His work often contains unusual combinations of instruments, sounds and moods that create a powerful, unique and emotional impact. His music career began as a recording artist, guitar player, producer and collaborator, working with artists such as Brian Eno, David Sylvian, Nusrat Fateh, Ali Khan, The Pogues, and Jane Siberry on ground breaking labels such as 4AD and Real World Records. As his music began to be licensed in films such as HEAT and ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, he developed an interest in composing for film and moved to Los Angeles from the UK in 1999. Among the notable films that he has scored are THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER, THE FIGHTER, INTO THE WILD, CHAVEZ, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, the Oscar winning documentary UNDEFEATED, and the much-anticipated BROOKLYN, which debuted earlier this year at Sundance.

Filmed for the first time in 3D for IMAX® and Giant Screen theatres, JERUSALEM immerses audiences into one of the world’s most beloved cities. Discover why this tiny piece of land is sacred to three major religions through the stories of Jewish, Christian and Muslim families who call Jerusalem home. Join renowned archaeologist, Dr. Jodi Magness, as she travels underground to solve some of this city’s greatest mysteries. Find out why, after thousands of years, Jerusalem and the Holy Land continue to stir the imagination of billions of people. Unprecedented access to the city’s holiest sites, as well as rare and breathtaking aerial footage of the Old City, combine to make JERUSALEM a unique and stunning cinematic experience.

“There was a strong desire on the part of Daniel [Ferguson, director] and producers, for the score to be a balancing act – to both invoke emotion through the score and at the same time, never take sides on anything. To do that was a unique challenge,” described Brook. “While I did use traditional strings, percussion and instruments like harp and dulcimer, I did electronically manipulate them so they don’t evoke one particular lineage - they sound like something in between. We wanted to evoke references but never nail them. We wanted to be more suggestive than prescriptive.”

National Geographic Entertainment presents a Cosmic Picture and Arcane Pictures Film JERUSALEM in IMAX theaters now. The JERUSALEM – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will be available digitally on April 21 and on CD May 12, 2015.
