I'm frequently disappointed by the lack of liner notes in movie music releases. You get a few pictures from the film, a few thank yous and a track listing.

In my collection I can think of a few off the top of my head that have great liner notes that explain where cues came from, instruments used, what bits were omitted from the final cut etc... just stuff that really fleshes out the music: the Star Wars trilogy, Great Train Robbery, Medal of Honor and, frequently (if not always?) expanded scores.

Can you guys come up with any more soundtracks that have enlightening liner notes?

Sure thing, mellow. Great idea! Cool

Jerry Goldsmith
-) Omen Trilogy:
The Omen - The Deluxe Edition
Damien: Omen II - The Deluxe Edition
The Final Conflict - The Deluxe Edition

-) Total Recall - The Deluxe Edition
-) Legend (Silva Screen Release from 1992)
-) Planet of the Apes

There is also a good CD, "The Alien Trilogy", where Cliff Eidelman conducts some officially never released cues of the original "Alien". The booklet's also very informative.

That's all that came into my mind for the moment. I'll post more if I can think of more.

Harry Gregson-Williams
