I originally titled this: "CHEATED FROM THE OSCAR" but that's been argued too much.

So, who do you think is long over due for an Oscar win?

JOHN WILLIAMS - 13 nominations since 1993

RANDY NEWMAN - 8 nominations since 1981; no win in the Score Category

THOMAS NEWMAN - 6 nominations since 1994 and no win

HANS ZIMMER - 5 nominations since 1996

My vote goes for RANDY NEWMAN who has not won an Oscar for Original Score, but what value does that "honor" have now that it really isn't worth what it used to?

Sure, there are others that are overlooked. Hmm, makes for another post Razz

I wanted to add Jerry Goldsmith but he's no longer with us Sad

After giving this list some thought, I'm going to have to say John Williams. John's music has always been wonderful... repititous at times, but you still want to hear it! I have a ton of soundtracks that were done by Williams, and I love everyone of them.
My second runner up would be Han Zimmer. Another fabulous composer who doesn't get nearly enough credit for the awesome work that he does.

Thomas Newman is deserving but I guess the timing has to be right. He has no Oscars at all, while the others have at least one already.

Obviously Jerry - goes without saying.

But I'd like to give a shout for George Fenton - I think he's underrated sometimes.

*takes banner* Oscar for Jerry Goldsmith (posthumus)

What about Ennio Morricone, he never got one.

I reckon Williams has been snubbed too many times!!! And I am SHOCKED that Ennio didn't win for The Mission. I have to admit that I really don't like the music as it is in the film, I think the editing of it is all over the place, but as music it is beautiful!!!! I would prob say the same thing for Star Wars Episode 2......nice music but really badly used in the film!!!!
