My first that was my own was The Lion King on casette tape. I was 8 at the time.
My first on CD was Tarzan, I think. And it's been quite a several years since I finally realized that I liked the scores in Disney movies better than most of the songs with vocals. |

My very first soundtrack was "Airwolf" on LP. It had some rather weird tracks on it, but I loved that music.
I haven't listened to it in years, though. Come to think of it, I'd like to do so again, but unfortunately I don't have a record player anymore. Then again, even if I had one, I'd have to find the LP.....
btw, I think I've got to be the only person in the world who read the Star Wars novelizations three times before either watching the movies or listening to the music! _________________ "Welcome to the paranoia club; cheapest fees in the universe and membership lasts forever."

My first soundtrack was Star Wars on 8-track. I was about 11 and without my mother's knowledge, I signed up for one of those 12 eight-tracks for a penny memberships! Star Wars was one of the picks! I don't recall what she did to me but she did let me keep the eight tracks, which we now know lasted about one year before the cassette came along!
However, I've always been obsessed with soundtracks and remember sitting in front of the television and recording the music from the credits with my little tape recorder! Two of the ones I can remember doing this with were Man from Snowy River and High Road to China. Still two of my all-time favorites! |

Wow... very interesting! Great choices, Sirius.
Two great choices from musicians who have done a lot more in the music world than just film/TV tracks. Knopfler has always been a fave of mine as part of Dire Straits as well as his many acoustic albums of songs (especially with New Age bent).
Check out Jan Hammer's extensive discography, too. |

My first soundtrack I got: My Neighbor Totoro
Because my brother and I loved Ghibli movies, and played the score/songs on piano, our parents bought it for us. They also gave us Laputa and Kiki later. We often played them in the car
My first soundtrack I bought: Lady and the Tramp
I received a CD player as my 12th or 13th birthday present. I didn't have any CDs I wanted to play except for those Ghibli soundtracks and some classical albums, but I wasn't interested in popular music, so I picked this at Disney Store, because its cover was so cute
Next CD I bought was The Lion King... then it changed my life.
My first non-animated soundtrack: Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Because I was so hooked on Tolkien books _________________ Miya the Pridelander

Well I can't recall exactly what was my first but it was probably one of the Morricone-scores for Sergio Leone on vinylalbum. It could easily have been "Once upon a time in the West" 'cause that album has been listed in the albumlist for over one year. Almost everyone I knew of in that time had bought it. _________________

Well, I think my first purchased was the Final Fantasy VI Original Sound Version.
I used to take a tape recorder when I was a little kid and record the music from videogames that I liked.
I remember taping Chrono Trigger, FFVI, FFIV, Castlevania 2, Ironsword, Street Fighter 2: Turbo, and Weaponlord _________________ I do not wake up with thoughts of control and rebellion, but thoughts of purpose and righteousness and the empowerment to fulfill those convictions that define me. |

My first purchase was Superman on 8-track.
That with Star Wars and I was hooked on Williams.
A few years later Somewhere in Time snagged me on John Barry.
Then there was the James Horner phase.
I still love these 3 composers - and so many others now. |

My very first ST was Star Wars! The LP with the white Star Wars logo on the black background on the cover. This was back in 1978... I remember looking at this record for the longest time in the store and I finally bought it with some money I had saved... *nostalgic feelings*
My husband is the one in our family who has been collecting STs for many, many years... I just add into the collection once in the while now... |
